Aperture Series @ 20mm: Pywiack Falls, Tenaya Canyon
This series from f/4 to f/11 looks at sharpness across the field for the Fujifilm GF 20-35mm f/4 R WR at 20mm on a finely detailed landscape scene.
It includes a 4-frame focus stack to show the peak potential of the lens near to far without the limitations of depth of field, since neither f/8 nor f/11 can come close to what a focus stack achieves.
The falls themselves are not visible from this angle; high water made the opposite side of the creek problematic. A favorite lunch spot is that little pool down near the middle.
I had wanted to make a shot like this for 3 years, but was too weak from long COVID or whatever is was to hike even half of the distance, let alone return. So this shot is a personal milestone, bringing the tremendous satisfaction of being able to hike in the Eastern Sierra again, finally. I had little time to get this shot done and it was windy, but I am quite happy with the results.
