It is a distinct honor to be the first subscriber to diglloyd’s Advanced Photography (DAP). Lloyd Chambers has shown tremendous dedication
in providing unbiased, timely and accurate reports on key technologies and issues in photography through his blog, free articles and Pro Reviews. Whether a beginning
photographer or life-long professional, the information the site provides is critical in creating a cost effective and efficient path forward in the digital
photographic era. I know I have benefited greatly from Lloyd’s insight and knowledge, and you will too.

I have been a reader of Lloyd Chambers' blog and an extremely satisfied purchaser of his Pro Reviews. I have been a photographer, as a
professional since I was 14, am now 76, and I have read just about everything I could get my hands on that relates to photography. (See the Getty Museum collection
of photography, ref. Crane Collection Books,) Also, I have been a subscriber to and do read almost every photo magazine that has been published in the US. Nowhere
is there any source as informative and valuable, with the most up-to-date information, re digital photography as this site. The results of Lloyd Chambers' excellent
analysis of his personal and technical lens and camera tests, his site and downloaded reviews have given me knowledge that is unobtainable elsewhere, and has
been for me and will be for any amateur or professional a most useful mine of fabulous and necessary information for anyone who is in any way engaged in the
use of a digital camera. I can without hesitation endorse this site as a MUST for every person "out there" who owns or can borrow a digital camera.
And, it is so much fun to read each day! Honestly, I can say, his daily writings are like "someone is bringing me a present each day!”

Today I got my DAP account. Curious I start to read some articles. Wow, all that stuff and tremendously tested lenses, equipment (tripods), + techniques (The Sharpest Image). It is done so thoroughly at such a high level. It is very inspiring. I think this is the best, and most cheap “investment” in Photographic content I ever made. Profit shall be remarkable high to get better IQ based shots from what you learn out of these articles. Thank you very much. — Leon O, subscriber
I'm looking forward to looking at your work, especially the equipment reviews and the technique information. The quality
of your website and particularly the pictures which I think are outstanding advertising and the reason I subscribed.

I finally subscribed to the paid service. It really IS worth it! — James N, subscriber
I have to say that Mac Pro / Optimizing Photoshop Performance article ALONE is worth the subscription!.

Just finished reading the focus shift article—the best coverage of that topic I've ever read - I learned quite a bit. Superb. Its something I talk about on the phone a couple of times a week with customers. — Roger at LensRentals.com
OMG!!! Thank you so much! Why? 1) I wondered why I loved my 50mm f/1.2L at first and then became less
enchanted with it... 2) When I shoot outdoors with the 14mm f/2.8 mk II I sometimes shoot
with a fenceline or something leading into a corner. I wondered how the
corner could be so dang sharp... That's after just browsing those two articles for 5 minutes each...thank you!!!!!!!!!!

This is to congratulate and thank you for the technical insights you gave me through DAP and your Zeiss-tests. Being a pro photographer since 25 years I always bought the best lenses available for my Nikons and never cared too much about all those technical details. Now I learned about focus-shift and other issues, which really broadens my horizon and sharpens my awareness. Thank you and continue like this! — Rainer U, subscriber

Quality content takes considerable effort to produce. In many cases, equipment cannot be easily obtained, and must be purchased. Also, the advertising model used by some web sites results in a cluttered, inferior reading experience. Instead, we offer the highest quality content without the bias and distractions of paid advertisements, all in the convenience of your web browser—no Flash or other klunky formats.
Is there special pricing for previous customers?
Past customers are greatly appreciated. All past customers were emailed and offered special pricing. That opportunity has now passed.
Why aren’t some of the Pro Reviews included?
Certain Pro Reviews such as Zeiss ZF Lenses and the diglloyd Guide to DIgital Infrared Photography are book-sized, offering tremendous value on their own. Sorry, but we cannot offer these comprehensive Guides as part of the basic DAP subscription. However, DAP subscribers are entitled to special initial pricing on these offerings.
What about downloading for offline reading?
Online access is always up to date. Certain Pro Reviews such as Zeiss ZF Lenses and the diglloyd Guide to Digital Infrared Photography have periodic “snapshots”, which may be downloaded upon request (limit twice per year). Please note that snapshots are made only when a major addition is finalized (such as a new lens). There is no download for DAP, as it already contains several gigabytes of content. In the future, a DVD or set of DVDs might be made available at additional cost.
The current versions of Firefox or Apple Safari are recommended for the best viewing experience. Both are available for Windows and Macintosh. Internet Explorer will also work. If you are concerned about compatibility, you can test browser compatibility by logging into a test area—contact us for details.
Is my web connection fast enough?
Some articles are not image-intensive and therefore will not present a speed issue with a slower connection. But for other articles, JPEGs are minimally compressed, and large image sizes are used (up to 1-2 megabytes in some cases). A slow connection works with patience, but a fast DSL or cable connection will be more enjoyable. Please do not login to DAP on a public computer (library, Kinkos, etc) because the browser might retain the password. If you do so, please reset the browser and quit it after reading.
Yes, for your own personal use.
May I share my username/password with someone else?
No. Sharing your account will result in immediate revocation with no refund, and you will be blacklisted from the site.
May I download site contents using automated tools?
No. Using automated tools/scripts/bots to download site contents is . It is intended for a human being to read/view. Use of the site which degrades its performance or functionality is strictly prohibited and will result in subscription revocation with no refund. Abusive behavior includes repeatedly downloading the same files, using excessive bandwidth through tools or scripts, or similar activities inconsistent with the normal reading/viewing of site content. All these activities degrade the site responsiveness for other users.
How often is the content updated?
Updates are not on a fixed schedule. Some topics might require several weeks of effort, while others might require a few days. We don’t publish “quickie” reviews. On average you can expect significant new content every 2 weeks.
Does the subscription automatically renew?

May I change my username or password?
The password is chosen randomly for security purposes. Please use the supplied username/password. In the future we expect to allow such changes directly via a login/home page.
How do I take advantage of the special pricing on diglloyd Guides?
Subscribe to DAP. Then please see the Buy Now links on your home page.
I like what’s offered. How can I support this site?
First, link to this site and encourage others to do so. Volume matters and sites that have more referring sites get more volume. Second, encourage your friends to subscribe to DAP.
Third, just as magazines sell ads (subscriptions don’t pay for a magazine), this site relies on both subscriptions and commissions from sponsored links. Unlike magazines, commissions are neutral with respect to any particular product/manufacturer—reviews remain objective; it doesn’t matter what is purchased from which vendor. Subscriptions require volume (many subscribers) to cover operational expenses. Even so, it’s not enough to make routine purchases of expensive lenses/cameras, etc viable. When you buy something through sponsored links (see the blog page), you actively encourage the ability of this site to provide more and more coverage of more and more equipment—it’s a win/win result. Make it a habit to use the sponsored links—thank you very much.
