Snowshoe Hare in Half-Summer Half-Winter Fur
This poor guy or gal snowshoe hare doesn’t have much of a chance until the winter snow’s come—stands out like a sore thumb, unlike summer, where the brown pelt makes it hard to see unless it moves. The survival strategy is to flatten ears and body and hold stock-still while hoping the predator will pass. Though there is one fewer coyote to worry about. Get too close, and the hare will bolt.
