White Mountain Road Still Closed at Schulman Grove
re: Fujifilm GF 35-70mm f/4.5-5.6
I was told by a forest service employee yesterday (who had just inspected the road), that White Mountain Road would open Friday night (July 7) or today (July 8). No such luck as of 6 PM July 8, so no access beyond Schulman Grove except by bicycle or foot.
Update: as of 4 PM July 9, road still closed locking out the public from a road in fine fettle with no issues whatsoever.
I did ride my mountain bike 5 miles along the road to the “Big Hump” area and got some images there.
The road is in perfect condition, every bit as good as last fall, and looks that way all the way to the Patriarch Grove Area. The only problems were side roads Silver Canyon Road (since fixed), and Wyman Canyon (washed out). But no problems on WMR itself.
Nevertheless the feckles Forest Service has chosen to lock-out the public since June 14 for no justifiable reason, at least not as of 4-5 days ago. Perhaps there were snow issues at mile 5+ for a while, but that has not been the case for a week or so.
Below, if only Nikon Z8 had more resolution, the main sign could be readable, perhaps. But the 4-frame focus stack worked beautifully.
