Leica M11 Monochrom: World’s Worst Design for Battery Access
re: monochrome
The Leica M11 Monochrom has arrived and the battery is charging.
Wow does it feel light—the reduced weight is very noticeable.
No other way?
Seriously?
You have to take off any camera plate in order to get to the battery or the SD card. Can it have been designed any worse that than.
Even with the smallest possible camera plate it is not possible to push on the release lever, at least not without some small plastic probe tool... not even then. With a really tiny plate that can mount off-center (highly undesirable) then I can get to the lever.
Did I mention the poor grip on the M11M? As in no grip whatsoever. What a thoughtful design. Keep this thing on a strap around your neck, or go buy crap to add onto it so you can actually hold it without the risk of dropping it.
