Phase One IQ4 Image Quality: Color Bleed in Adobe Camera Raw vs Phase One Capture One Pro
I had time to investigate the color bleed issue; this is a repost/redo after trying CaptureOne Pro, and finding that the color bleed exists in ACR because it does not utilize the correction data for the PhaseOne IQ4 150 digital back.
Phase One IQ4 150 image quality is top of the heap. But when processing some grossly underexposed images with Adobe Camera Raw, I ran into what I will call here a “color bleed” issue around a broad outer area of the sensor, presumably caused by differential sensor response. Perhaps because of being warmed-up in outer areas by heat-bleed from the electronics.
However, this “color bleed” is a problem that the engineers at PhaseOne have dealt with superbly well, and so this page demonstrates dramatically why PhaseOne CaptureOne Pro is a strikingly superior choice to Adobe Camera Raw, at least for PhaseOne IQ 150 and other PhaseOne backs.
