Loss of Images in Leica M9 with SanDisk 32GB SDHC Card

Lexar Professional 64GB SDHC card
Lexar Professional 64GB SDHC card
TESTING AS ALTERNATIVE to SanDisk

As I described in my July 20 entry, I’ve had data loss before with my SanDisk cards, both SDHC and CompactFlash.

Yesterday, the Leica M9 went haywire, and all the first day of school photos of my kids vaporized.

I was using a SanDisk Extreme Pro 32GB SDHC card. The fault of card or camera?

I’ve had trouble like this once in a while with the M9, but always with SanDisk. And other trouble with SanDisk in the Nikon D3x and Leica S2.

In hopes of never again seeing such an issue, I have ordered a Lexar Professional 64GB SDHC card. Lexar has also sent me a 32GB SDHC card for testing.

If the Lexar cards also prove to have issues, then perhaps I can blame the M9. If not, I’ll be content to move to Lexar for my SDHC needs.
