Leica 50mm f/1.4 Summilux-M ASPH

I rented the Leica 50mm f/1.4 Summilux-M ASPH from LensRentals.com, and have started some experimental shooting. I’ll be publishing samples in my Guide and Review of the Leica M9. Ditto for the Leica 16-18-21 Tri-Elmar ASPH.

I was reminded while shooting yesterday just how nice it is to have a small camera witih small lenses on a small tripod— a ~4 pound kit with 5 lenses versus a ~12 pound kit with 5 lenses (Nikon D3x).

See my handy list of Leica gear at B&H Photo. Unfortunately, virtually everything is perenially out of stock, so when something shows up you want, grab it, or follow my Twitter feed because I note such blue-moon events. Right now, one of the few lenses in stock is the 24/3.8 Elmar-M ASPH in stock (highly recommended).

No one can say that the 50/1.4 Summilux ASPH is not sharp, or lacks contrast under difficult lighting. Or that it is without flaws. But I am liking the 50/1.4 a lot, and I’ll report on that in my review.
