Fuji Finepix X100 — Lens Distortion
A distortion page has been added to my Fujifilm Finepix X100 review.
Reader McD (no name specified) writes:
Am I the only one to notice the pronounced distortion of the X100 lens? Note the gravestones. Distortion makes this lens is a nonstarter for me.
DIGLLOYD: my distortion example page shows that the X100 has virtually zero distortion, which is easily shown by applying a rule or grid in Photoshop over the image. Even at full resolution, the divergence from center to edge is only a few pixels.
But perhaps McD is confusing lens distortion with geometric “distortion”, the latter of which is the physics of projecting an image onto a flat plane, and not a lens attribute. I show examples of distortion in Making Sharp Images, on this page.
