Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 for Canon and Nikon

if you can believe NikonRumors, there will be a Zeiss ZF.2 35mm f/1.4 Distagon out quite soon. Whether a Canon EOS mount version will also be out at the same time is not yet clear.

The Zeiss ZF.2 35mm f/1.4 won’t come cheap (maybe twice the price of the 35/2), but readers of my Guide to Zeiss ZF.2 / ZE Lenses will be the first to know how it performs in context of the existing 35mm f/2 Distagon and the rest of the line, as it will be a drop-everything priority.

As I like Wide Aperture Landscapes, the Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 looks like a fantastic new versatile option for landscape shooters— but I hope Zeiss has tamed field curvature and distortion.

Also, an f/1.4 lens shot at f/2 tends to have much reduced vignetting over f/2, a real advantage for low-light shooting. On the flip side, I tend to like vignetting for creative effect at wide apertures.
