Maxtor 7V300F0 300GB hard drive performance

The new Maxtor 7V300F0 300GB hard drive (see discussion) might well be the fastest SATA drive you can buy today, or at least on par with competitors like the Western Digital Raptor.   Using disktester, I timed a striped pair of these drives on the PowerMac Quad, using the built-in SATA connectors.  The results shown below are exceptional, the best I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing.  Performance will be rather zippy once I add the additional 3 drives to the stripe (see yesterday’s discussion on internal storage).
