Nikon D200 and balance with pro zooms

As much as I like the smaller size and weight of the Nikon D200, it really isn’t well matched in terms of handling to the larger pro zooms such as the AFS 28-70/f2.8, the AFS 17-55/f2.8 DX and the AFS 70-200/f2.8.  The camera just doesn’t feel substantial enough for those lenses, with a balance to the combination that feels front heavy and awkward compared to the D2X.  Smaller lenses such as the AFS 18-200 DX and 18-70 DX balance nicely and seem well-matched to the camera.   That’s not necessarily a reason to avoid a D200, but for those who appreciate the balance and feel of a well matched body and lens, the D200 may disappoint.
