Burzynksi Ballhead

Last updated January 01, 2010 - Send Feedback

Looking for a ballhead for your tripod legs? A ballhead uses a kind of ball to allow free rotation in any direction. Most photographers prefer them over pan/tilt heads.

My favorite ballhead for its rock-solid stabilty is the Burzynski head. No other ballhead comes close to its tank-quality sturdiness, capable of supporting anything by virtue of its robust and simple design. It is best suited for a medium to large tripod.

The only downside is that the head cannot be flipped more than 45° to the side. That’s not an issue if you use an L-bracket on your DSLR, as is smart practice in any case.

I currently favor the Arca Swiss Cube, but the Burzynksi is far less expensive and very simple and durable in design, highly recommended. US buyers will have to find it abroad.
