The Canon 16-36mm f/2.8L II (about $1520) is a solid zoom lens, but prime (non zoom) lenses offer better results in this range, sometimes much better.

The 16-35mm f/2.8L is Canon’s best ultrawide zoom as of March 2010, but those looking for top quality are advised to look at fixed focal length lenses in its range .
