The Zeiss ZM 50mm f/2 Planar (about $781) is a compact 50mm alternative to the ZM 50mm f/1.5 C-Sonnar.
Image quality
Not yet tested.
MTF charts suggest that this lens offers excellent performance even wide open, with minimal field curvature and outstanding contrast and sharpness by f/5.6.
